Another Independant Witness

I was also there when it happened with my camera making my own personal documentation of the day. My friend witnessed the man stumbling and collapse. I was moving away from the police line unaware of what had happened when I noticed a crowd moving towards a man who had collapsed on the floor. Somebody was putting him into the recovery position and people were crowding around him all looking concerned for the man's well being. I took a few photo's of the situation (which I'm reluctant to publish online out of respect for him) and on realising he was in good hands and there was nothing I could do to help I moved away. I remember seeing a few police moving towards the man as I left and remember the police line then making a big push. I also remember being at the end of the road when the ambulance's arrived. All protesters divided to make way for them with shouts from people to allert everyone what was happening. The police line didn't show the same respect, they held in place long enough for the ambulance to stop. The driver was clearly unsure if he should look for another route as he turned his front wheels to drive off, only proceeding when the police directed him in and moved out the way. I don't remember seeing people throwing anything down the street where the man lay.

I'd just like to say I applaud those who helped the man and all the protesters for their compassion at that time. Shame I can't say the same for the police. Also well done to the guys for getting your statment of the true events out here and Indymedia for reporting it.
