Complaints about protests? Ask the CAB!

If you want to make a complaint about your experiences during yesterday's protests, the Citizens Advice Bureau can provide information on how to make a complaint, as well as putting people in touch with solicitors dealing with the relevant areas and put people in touch with organizations that can provide support or campaigning for action.

The Citizens Advice Bureau is a independant charity; not affiliated to any form of government or any other company; your details will not  be handed on to anyone.

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers. Citizens Advice collects evidence of CAB clients' problems and uses this to campaign for changes in policies and services. This is called social policy work, and evidence is collected from bureaux nationwide. They can also help put people in contact with the media to discuss their views.

One-man G20 protest on 28th March 2009

On Saturday I participated in a one-man act of civil disobedience that is not yet reported in any paper to my knowledge. To co-incide with the Put People First march through London I climbed over the railings and into the grounds of the Houses of Parliament/Palace of Westminster.

The Put People First march is now making its way into Hyde Park.  The first half of the march showed up about an hour ago, the second half was delayed due to the police joining the march and keeping a slow-moving cordon of cops in front of the anarchist Militant Workers Bloc, presumably to deny them mobility in case they decided to overthrow capitalism today.

The Put People First march has begun.  It's very difficult to tell how big the entire demonstration is right now, because the entire embankment for at least a mile is filled with people - the demonstration stretches out of sight in either direction.

Vigil for Tristan Anderson

Pics of todays vigil for Tristan Anderson outside the Israeli Embassy, who was critically injured last Friday by Israeli troops following a protest against the Israeli wall in the West Bank village of Ni'lin. He was hit in the head by a new type of high velocity, extended range teargas projectile. He received severe head injuries, which resulted in part of his frontal lobe being removed. He is currently in a stable condition and has regained a minor level of consciousness but it is still too early to know what the extent of his recovery can be.

About 20 demonstrators attended, and their presence, as well as a large police turnout and a private security guard seemingly hired for the day, seemed to have discouraged people from entering the shop, Ahava did very little business during the demonstration.

Global Action Day for Education 2008

Globalactionday_nov2008

On November the 5th 2008 took place a global action day for education. Protests took place at least in
Liberia, Germany (Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Mannheim, Marburg), Croatia (Zagreb, Pula), Bangladesh
Canada (Toronto, Ottawa, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Mississauga, London, Guelph, Peterborourgh, Hamilton,
Scarborough, Kingston, Windsor), USA (Kentucky), Austria, Argentina, England (Gateshead, Manchester), Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkey (Istanbul, Izmir, Diyarbakir, Ankara), Egypt, Sierra Leone, (f.Y.R.o.) Macedonia, Netherlands, France, Ireland (Dublin, Galway).
though we did not have material from all those places the video is kind of small but tries to give at least a feeling of what happened at this day.
