As Parliament was sitting again after having been absent from Westminster for Easter holidays, Tamil people and their supporters in London stepped up their protests on Monday 20th against the military onslaught in the Tamil areas of northern Sri Lanka. Thousands of people blocked Parliament Square for the whole day, whilst large numbers of police and riot TSG forces in standby-by kept a close eye.
By 20:30 in the evening thousands of people were still blocking the road outside Parliament. See updates and photos [1 | 2] Further potests are taking place on Wednesday 22nd. See photos and report.

Following the insulting and unacceptable offer from Visteon this week the sacked workers are stepping up their 24/7 picket of the Enfield factory. The Belfast and Basildon Visteon workers have also rejected the offer. Now more than ever they need support and solidarity for their decision to continue their struggle for justice.

There is a feature currently running at IMC-UK that is covering the ongoing autonomous action that has settled at parliament square after blockading Westminster bridge for almost a day and night/.
The series of events that followed has been eclipsed steadily by the determination of the ongoing hunger strike.
It is not intended to take focus away from the two lives dangling so dangerously in hunger -- but it must be pointed out there is a huge march today RAIN OR SHINE culminating in a rally at hyde park at 4 pm.
This long planned licenced demonstration starts at 1 pm from Embankment area.

Statement from Enfield Ford Visteon workers
At a hearing at the High Court on Monday 6th April, the union Unite won the right for the Enfield occupation to continue without further legal duress until noon on Thursday 9th April so that negations with Visteon US could take place. (Two local trade union representatives had by then already been served with restraining orders threatening them with prison sentences.)
Kevin Nolan, the Enfield Unite convener, flew with Derek Simpson and Roger Maddison, to New York on Tuesday and held promising talks with the senior management, which will be resumed on Tuesday 13th somewhere in the UK.
After Kevin Nolan reported back, the workforce accepted Unites advice to cease the occupation by the legal deadline. The enthusiastic demonstration of several hundred people who had gathered to express support for their cause clapped, chanted and cheered the occupiers for the stand they had taken.
They are now picketing the factory to keep the pressure on Ford Visteon, and prevent them from removing equipment or products, and if necessary prevent Ford Visteon from re-opening the factory with a scab labour work force.
The 24-hour picket will be difficult without financial, physical and political support. Messages of support, financial contributions and physical presence are required urgently. Kevin Nolan can be contacted on 07956 375 410 or knolan21@msn.com.
Enfield and Haringey TUCs have called on a rally Saturday 11th April at the factory, Morson Road, EN3 4NQ.
A Ford Visteon workers support group is helping to coordinate support by sustaining the pickets and publicising the Ford Visteon workers struggle for justice. By agreement with the pickets, Haringey Solidarity Group will channel financial support to the pickets through their bank account. Cheques made out to 'Haringey Solidarity Group' or 'HSG' may be sent to HSG, PO Box 2474, London N8 0HW (write Ford Visteon on the back). Next support group meeting Thursday 16th, 7.30pm, Millennium Centre, 386 West Green Rd, N15 3QL. All welcome.

Two leaflets: Visteon Workers Occupation
The central square "piazza missori" [comparable for example with muntplein in amsterdam] for 6 hours completed isolated and surrounded by more than 1000 riot policemen: at the square fascists from whole europe -as france, italy, hungary, england, and so on- gathered for a meeting in Hotel Cavalieri [owned by a wellknown fascist]. There were just 200-300 of the scum, brought wit ATM-busses of the City to the hotel. In the meantime nobody else could reach the square for 6 hours, no trams or busses passed by. Although the Italian Constitution forbids the propaganda for fascist organisation the City government of Moratti (forza italia) and De Corato (fascist) didn't see any reason to forbid the reunion....we -the comunity- paid for the 1000 policemen and the traffic jam that should protect the fascist scum.
At the front of the Scala opera thousands of antifascists gathered for an antifascist meeting: the rain drove the mass under the Galleries, but one thing has been made quit clear: FASCISTS OUT OF MILAN, OUT OF EVERYWHERE, BACK IN THE SEWERS!!!RESISTENZA ORA E SEMPRE/RESISTANCE NOW AND ALWAYS!!!
[watch the whole video, although some interviews are in italian...see the great spirit of the antifascists...]
