when is a flag a terrorist flag? the answer, it seems, depends on who and where you are! if you are a tamil student peacefully demonstrating in parliament square, it is, and you get arrested. if you are tony benn mp and you are in parliament square, you get photographed but not arrested. if you stand outside new scotland yard and challenge the police to arrest you, suddenly it magically becomes the tamil eelam national flag and is NOT proscribed. murky goings-on at parliament square.

On 12th May 2009, a dozen anti-deportation campaigners from the Stop Deportation network and the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees blockaded the entrance to Colnbrook and Harmondsworth detention centres near Heathrow, to try and prevent the mass deportation of 45 Iraqi Kurdish refugees held at Colnbrook via charter flight. Six activists locked themselves together, using glass and plastic arm tubes attached to heavy concrete barrels. The blockade lasted for over four hours, after which three coaches carrying the deportees left for an undisclosed airport. All six were arrested (two quite violently) for obstruction of the highway.

featuring the amazing victory won by ex-Ford workers at Visteon! After factory occupations and the threat to picket out workers at Ford's state of the art plant at Bridgend, Visteon and Ford were forced back to the negotiating table - where they conceded a redundancy package better than the Fords package the workers were demanding. This will make it the biggest redundancy package ever paid out by Fords anywhere!

At 16:00 this Monday afternoon (18th), Tamil protestors broke through the police barriers around Parliament Square and have once again blockaded Parliament. Traffic is being diverted away from the square. Although there were many police present, they were apparently taken off guard.

On Sunday 17th a group of Londoners joined in protest against the sale by British supermarkets of Israeli goods and produce from illegal Israeli colonial settlements in the West Bank. The action took place in a West London Tesco. The group assembled around a trolley full of goods labelled 'produce of Israel', explaining the issues around the sale of Israeli goods to the public, alternating facts and chants, drawing the attention of both customers and staff. See video of the action.
The action was entirely peaceful and protesters left of their own accord, however two participants were arrested by the police, and later bailed return to the police station at a later date.
