SHAC: Fortress Divest in HLS?

Friday, 2nd October

At lunchtime, a dozen London activists went to 5 Savile Row, the office address of Fortress Investment (FCF Ltd), where we had a loud and focused demo naming and shaming Fortress for their sneaky, under-hand dealings with HLS/LSR, for trying to hide their involvement with HLS in 'mafia style' financial dealings by getting other companies to start shell companies to front their loan to HLS. Fortress don't sound to proud to be helping HLS out do they?

The Platform: Carlos, 1 year without you

Carlos, 1 year without you, 1 year with you.

A 1 hour and 16 minutes documentary about the intense year of fight after the murder of the antfascist comrade Carlos Palomino in Madrid. 11/11/2007

There are wounds that even time can't close, as the one opened in our hearts when our brother, friend and comrade Carlos, when going to fight against racism, was killed by a neo-Nazi military.

Something inside us died that day. But also a strong feeling of endless reassurance to fight against fascism and injustice was born. Antifascism in Madrid is since then more united and organized than ever. Antifascist groups have honored every day 11 by attacking the sites, the symbols and the accomplices whos hands were stained with the brave blood of Carlos.

Carlos, we promise you we wont stop fighting until the last breath, and your smiling face will contemplate how Madrid is and will be the tomb of fascism.

THE BEST HOMAGE IS TO CONTINUE FIGHTING

Ahava Occupied Again in support for Palestine

Shopfront-thumb

On Friday 18thm at 11am, two people entered the Ahava store in Monmoth Street, Covent Garden and closed the shop by locking themselves inside. Under the banner of 'Stolen Beauty from Stolen Land', they set out to highlight the sale of beauty products manufactured on illegal Israeli Settlements on Occupied Palestinian land.

In line with Saturday's International Day of Action Against Ahava, supported by the International Solidarity Movement, Code Pink, Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Boycott Israeli Goods Campaign, the actions support the Palestinian non-violent efforts at resisting the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine.

SHAC: Day 1 of Demos at Drug Conference

As the rain fell on London today, it set the mood for a lively demo outside The Bloomsbury Hotel, 16-22 Great Russel Street, London WC1 3NN. We were at the location as the pharmaceutical community have decided to hold a Drug 'Safety' Conference at the hotel for a whole week, with many of HLS' customers attending! Feel free to contact the hotel on 0207 7347 1000 or even pay them a visit expressing your concern that they would hold such an event and that you hope they will think twice in the future! Of course, as I'm sure you will, please keep all contact polite.

Climate Rush Tour Begins

Hi all climate camps. I just wanted to make mention about the climate rush tour that has kicked off on 4th September in Sipson which is ending in Totnes at the end of september, the girls and boys all decked out with the classic suffergette customs along side 3 beautiful horses.

I only went to fist leg of the tour which was Sipson Village, and also my first time in the village. It was an over whelming experience.

The work that every activist has done in the village has been amazing. But I wanted to share a comment. From one of the residents, that we haven't involved the local community with what's going on and all are hard work i.e actions. She had very valid points and a local perspective that will add punch to the campaign, No Third Runway.

This was my first time, but I fell that It was important to share that comment. This is something that could be added to the outreach blog.

Any documentery makers, listen to their stories and capturing their pain, will win hearts and minds of the UK. Age of Stupid?

So have pint at the King William IV, Sipson and a big shout out to all the boys and girls who are climate rushing across the Uk outreaching.

Climate Campers Escalate Action Against Eon

Eonoff-thumb

Last wednesday (3rd September), as the Camp for Climate Action finished up clearing the site of this years climate camp, a group of activists pitched a tent within the grounds of E-on owed Ratcliffe-on-Soar coal-fired power station in Nottinghamshire. The tent was emblazoned with the words “Climate Camp is coming” in reference to their plans to shut down the power station in October.
