There is a feature currently running at IMC-UK that is covering the ongoing autonomous action that has settled at parliament square after blockading Westminster bridge for almost a day and night/.
The series of events that followed has been eclipsed steadily by the determination of the ongoing hunger strike.
It is not intended to take focus away from the two lives dangling so dangerously in hunger -- but it must be pointed out there is a huge march today RAIN OR SHINE culminating in a rally at hyde park at 4 pm.
This long planned licenced demonstration starts at 1 pm from Embankment area.

The central square "piazza missori" [comparable for example with muntplein in amsterdam] for 6 hours completed isolated and surrounded by more than 1000 riot policemen: at the square fascists from whole europe -as france, italy, hungary, england, and so on- gathered for a meeting in Hotel Cavalieri [owned by a wellknown fascist]. There were just 200-300 of the scum, brought wit ATM-busses of the City to the hotel. In the meantime nobody else could reach the square for 6 hours, no trams or busses passed by. Although the Italian Constitution forbids the propaganda for fascist organisation the City government of Moratti (forza italia) and De Corato (fascist) didn't see any reason to forbid the reunion....we -the comunity- paid for the 1000 policemen and the traffic jam that should protect the fascist scum.
At the front of the Scala opera thousands of antifascists gathered for an antifascist meeting: the rain drove the mass under the Galleries, but one thing has been made quit clear: FASCISTS OUT OF MILAN, OUT OF EVERYWHERE, BACK IN THE SEWERS!!!RESISTENZA ORA E SEMPRE/RESISTANCE NOW AND ALWAYS!!!
[watch the whole video, although some interviews are in italian...see the great spirit of the antifascists...]

Countless accounts of police brutality have surfaced around the protests on April 1st and 2nd, be it the detention of protesters at Bank for hours [1|2], the vicious attack on the peaceful Climate Camp [report|video], including children, or the raids on the Convergence Center [1|2|3] and RampARTs [1|2]. Not to mention the police aggression at an event to commemorate the death of Ian Tomlinson and demand an independent inquiry [1|2].
Now new eyewitness statements corroborate the indications that policing of the protests is, at least in part, responsible for the death of a bystander. The Guardian relased a video on Tuesday, showing Tomlinson being pushed to the ground by a police officer. On the same day another march was held in the face of police brutality and to demand an inquiry into Ian Tomlinson's death, with the announcement that the police policy of containment would be taken to European Human Rights Courts and an online petition can now be signed.

On April 4th, about 100 people gathered at Bank and then marched past Liverpool Street Station and RBS towards Bethnal Green, to protest against police brutality and demand an independent inquiry into the police strategies used during the protests against the G20 and the death of a man under still unconfirmed circumstances on April 1st. The media has been trying - not too convincingly - to claim that the brutal response of the police in London of the past few days was a necessary response to violent anti-G20 demonstrators. All those who participated in the events saw a different picture, a police force intent on provoking violence. This is clearly part of a plan to portray the peaceful protestors as "violent", in effect an attempt to criminalise ordinary people protesting. Here is an eyewitness account.

A man died yesterday, 1st of April, outside the Bank of England where police had crushed and baton charged "G8 Meltdown" participants.
The Metropolitan Police is now putting their version of events to the mainstream media, but the police have given ample reason to not believe in their reports. Already the claim that the police were the object of a "rain" of bottles has been denied by eyewitnesses.

I arrived well after the raid had started. Witnesses said that the riot police had smashed down the door with a battering ram at around 12.30pm and had stormed into the building with full length riot shields pushing people to the floor. At least three people were taken away via ambulance.

At around 12:30 this afternoon, 30-50 police arrived at the Rampart, an activist social centre in Whitechapel, East London. A formerly derelict building which had been empty for years, Rampart was occupied by activists and turned into a social and cultural venue more than four years ago.

With the G20 London Summit meeting, several demonstrations took place, including an early morning giant game of monopoly outside the Stock Exchange and several hundred protesting outside the ExCeL centre where the G20 were [report].
Elsewhere a remembrance event took place outside the Bank of England, near to where Ian Tomlinson died during the previous days demonstration. Heavily policed, people appealed for more information surrounding the death, and condemned the police tactics [reports 1 and 2 |Pics | Videos].
At the same time in a cynical display of power, hundreds of riot police raided two buildings associated with the protests. At Ramparts they burst through windows wearing balaclavas and aiming tazars at those inside screaming "Get down, get down" [report | Pics 1,2,3]. At Earl Street they smashed the door down and handcuffed around 40 people inside [report | Pics 1,2, 3 | Video]. A handful of arrests were made. Later those who had gathered at the Bank of England were dispersed by riot police.
Another remembrance demonstration calling for an inquiry into police actions is planned for Saturday at Bank.
