Three days before their national STOP POLICE VIOLENCE! demonstration is due to kettle New Scotland Yard, folks from the United Campaign against Police Violence mount a vigil for the deceased victims of police homicide right outside the HQ building of the Metropolitan Police.

After factory occupations and the threat to picket out workers at Ford's state of the art plant at Bridgend, Visteon and Ford were forced back to the negotiating table - where they conceded a redundancy package better than the Fords package the workers were demanding. This will make it the biggest redundancy package ever paid out by Fords anywhere!
At 16:00 this Monday afternoon (18th), Tamil protestors broke through the police barriers around Parliament Square and have once again blockaded Parliament. Traffic is being diverted away from the square. Although there were many police present, they were apparently taken off guard.

in secret meetings not recorded in Hansard, our government has formulated a plan to rid parliament square of not only the current tamil protests, but also brian haw's seven and a half year vigil. emergency legislation is expected to pass through parliament unopposed within a matter of weeks.
Statewatch has obtained an excel sheet showing the prediction by the Department of Transport of their projects and the monitoring of protesters by the police.
Tamil protestors have caught police on the hop today and blockaded the road outside Parliament again in the last half hour. Hundreds of protestors have taken the junction at Westminster Bridge Road and traffic is backed up across the bridge and up Whitehall. Police re-inforcements are moving in.

The anti-authoritarian spirit of MayDay was marked this year in London with a "Guilty, A Celebration of the Police State" street party called by the Space Hijackers. Around 300 people gathered outside the Bank of England from 5pm and partied into the evening.
Three mobile sound systems were brought into the square right in the middle of The City, as a well as a traditional MayDay pole and several props, whilst many people were wearing fancy dresses with the theme of police repression. In contrast with the recent G20 events, police kept a low profile throughout the evening.

On Saturday 2nd May 2009, protestlondon.co.uk held a protest announcing calls for a declassification on Cannabis Laws, outside the gates of Downing Street, Whitehall. Earlier this year on January 2009 the drug was reclassified back to Class B from its previous Class C status. The protest, voiced on the de classification of the drug, with the laws making it possible for up to a maximum of 5 years if caught in possession with the substance.
The island in the Thames near Surbiton has been evicted today by 100 police in 27 inflatable rafts and a helicopter. The island had been used as a community space, providing workshops and classes to the local community since February and was planning to set up an Eco Centre in the coming years. See photos

The police have been ordered to pay out £85,000 (plus costs) to 5 activists that were illegally and violently detained at a demonstration outside the Mexican Embassy in 2006. The demonstration was part of a global action to mark the Death of Brad Will and indymedia activist from New York who was murdered whilst covering the uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico.
