House of Lords debate. 8th Nov 2010.

Following a question by Baroness Trumpington of the Conservative party asking: "Is any agency responsible the removal of those occupying the pavement in Parliament Square?" , Home Office Minister Baroness Neville-Jones declares the UK government's intention to bring in new legislation to remove the Parliament Square protesters. One of the protesters: Brian Haw has lived on the Square since 2001 protesting against the British governments policy of war and embargos (particularly the government's decision to invade Iraq and Afghanistan).
There are currently approximately 15 people living on the pavement surrounding Parliament Sq.
Following the eviction of Democracy Village: a community of people who lived on the Square from May 1st until ints forced eviction on July 20th, a fence was erected around the grass area of the Square which prevents access to all but a round the clock team of security guards.
