A small demonstration was held in Parliament Square on Saturday calling for an end to the forcible deportation of migrants, the closure of all immigration detention centres, freedom of movement and equal rights for all. The protest was part of the Week of Action Against the Deportation Machine and was attended by different groups that form the Stop Deportation Network.

A Garden was established this afternoon on the Green in front of the Houses of Parliament.

The day has been busy, starting early in the morning with a banner drop at Waterloo by the Space Hijackers, followed by a cosy burn fire and tunes by the D*I sound system at the WAG's burning of the ballots [pics] while the Democracy Village has been gearing up for its Peace Festival on Parliament Square [see day 1 | 3 | 4 | 5].

Almost a week now Parliament Square has been occupied by the Democracy Village, which today on election day is gearing up for the Peace Festival in much nicer weather than the last couple of days...

This morning, some students from Kingston University were prevented by police in Parliament Square from interviewing Barbara Tucker as part of their MA course.

In the arguments which ensued, Barbara Tucker was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
