Nadine Dorries bill proposing mandatory abstinence classes for young girls was withdrawn before it could be debated by MPs in parliament today. Close to 100 mostly women protesters welcomed the news of the withdrawal with cheers and applause.

A quick report; Squatters sleep out on Tot Hill a traditional place of free speech, near parliament. The police moved in on a picnic of concerned citizens and squatters who were expressing their opinions about the criminalisation of squatting.

This is not an exhaustive report. There were so many of us and everyone has their story to tell (why don't you tell your story?). So basically, they want to take away the right to education, and we won't let them. It was brilliant seeing all those people turn out, 13, 14 year old school kids amongst them. We started off at ULU. All sorts of people in the kettle including tourists and random people having tea. It was pretty tightly packed, but after a mesh fence on a building site was pushed down there was a bit more space. Cop van is stuck in the middle of the crowd.

Thousands of British Tamils gathered in parliament square to mourn the dead and injured in the war in Sri Lanka. People young and old laid flowers and lit candles in memory of friends and relatives. MP Tony Benn held the Tamil flag in solidarity, as earlier in the day police officers had attempted to confiscate them from protesters.
