In the run-up to March 26th, I developed two criteria by which to measure success: (1) it had to be big, i.e. the biggest thing since the February 15th anti-war march; and (2) it had to be a clear statement that the anti-cuts movement would not allow the TUC to strangle its militancy. On both counts I think it can broadly be considered successful.

300 - 500 thousand people marched through central London on March 26th. The demonstrators protested against government austerity measures which force the bulk of the population, and especially public sector workers, to pay for the economic crisis which erupted out of the banking sector two years ago.

Here there are a few pics from the Militant Workers Bloc at the G20 'Put People First' demonstration of Saturday 28th April:

The Put People First march is now making its way into Hyde Park.  The first half of the march showed up about an hour ago, the second half was delayed due to the police joining the march and keeping a slow-moving cordon of cops in front of the anarchist Militant Workers Bloc, presumably to deny them mobility in case they decided to overthrow capitalism today.

On the 10th of January 2009, Food Not Bombs joined the demo against the attacks on Gaza, and distributed free food and tea to the cold marchers.

Today's demonstration to the Israeli Embassy in central London was massive. Estimates talk about 100,000 people taking part. A call for an anarchist / anti-authoritarian presence at the demo was made earlier in the week, which has materialised today with a clearly visible block. Here there are some pics of it.
