Non Commercial House is gone again...

On Wednesday 3rd Feb at 9.20 am, High Court Bailiffs came round the Non Commercial House Free Shop, armed presumably with a restitution warrant, and evicted the place and its occupiers.Owners and Bailiffs seemed quite happy to prevent us from running a FreeShop (oooooh, scary, giving out shit for free!!!!) and making some more people homeless because they want to keep their building empty for another couple of years.

Non Commercial House is Back!

The Non Commercial House was a squatted autonomous space on 165 Commercial Street, London, E1. The project  consisted of a giant Free Shop for people to share, recycle what they dont need and take what they need. After several attempts that were resisted, the space was finally evicted on 30th November 2009 by high court bailiffs, on behalf of the owner The City of London.

But the place has been taken back!! and on Saturday 16th of January there was the Grand Re-Opening. Apart from the FreeShop itself and some free food and loads of cuppas, there was also a reverse strip poker (dress an item when you lose!) and some music in the evening to enjoy the space at its best. "We live in a society of over consumption and waste. Non Commercial House aims to offer an alternative based upon cooperation, mutual respect and sustainable living. It is not only about objects but about sharing!"

The Non Commercial House is Not There Any More!

Noncommercial House (aka the Freeshop, ex-Free School, etc.) was evicted on 30th November 2009, by high court bailiffs. Only one person was staying in the house, who left with his personal stuff. Most of the clothes and other giveaways were neatly packed and taken to a storage room by the executors. The implications are that the police now has around 100 shorts, 3 tesco uniforms, several dozen umbrellas of different sizes and descriptions, a strange book entitled "How to speak about books that you haven't read", and a box of single socks (they might find their other halves in the storage rooms).

Non Commercial House is still here!

Non Commercial House is a squatted autonomous FreeShop space on 165 Commercial Street. The Corporation of London (The city of london council that owns the building, booooh) want us out, so they took us to court and won. Of course, they haven't got any plan with the building and will probably let it rot for another couple of years... But we resisted the first eviction and we are still here and we are planning to make the best use of the space until the last hour we have it!!

Non Commercial House CALL OUT to share the fun!!

Non Commercial House is a squatted autonomous space on 165 Commercial Street, London, E1 (next to Bishopsgate, Liverpool st tube station) This place is basically a giant Free Shop, for people to share, recycle what they dont need, take what they need. It is an amazing and very succesful project that started just over 3 months ago. It is also a very uplifting example of an anti-capitalist and anti-hierarchy pro-active stand. Not only rejecting what we see as a source of misery in our world (capitalism and all that...) but creating alternatives, directly, with our own tiny little hands! Direct action as a bunch of people simply getting together and doing what they want to do, and having fun doing it! :) It is opened to the public from Friday to Sunday 12-8pm.
