Traditional photography, paper modeling and printmaking at the Hackney Empire.

The weird and wonderful works of Sanya Barakova and Tom "Atto" Vaclavek explore various interpretations of the concept of authority by bringing together these three disciplines which are slowly fading away from our over-digitalized society. The ambitious attempt of going from planning to independently producing, shooting and printing this set of images would deserve attention on it's own. The fact that these two very young people managed to actually pull it off means there should be no excuses for not visiting it.

Where else can you see pirates, queens or witches with paper garments and accessories, or how often do today's so called "artists" spend time mastering the dying art of darkroom printing, using a substance known as "liquid light"? That is why these images stand out from the crowd and, quite literally, out of their own frames in an attempt to subvert the very concept behind their creation. Must see.
