The extension of flying to millions of people has been a liberation. Most of us can now afford to go on holiday and welcome the cheapening of air travel allowing us to fly abroad. The development of aviation infrastructure is crucial to allow ever more people to fly.
This is why Modern Movement will be holding a counter-demonstration at the same time as the anti-aviation groups to show our support for airport expansion and urge on the building of the Third runway at Heathrow.
Join us on Parliament Square to argue for guilt-free travel, ever cheap flights and freedom of movement.

RE: transport to climate chaos
Why is demanding 'cheap flights for all' and better, cheaper (free?) public transport mutually exclusive?
Ultimately, Modern Movement is about more for all. This particular demo focuses on aviation/air travel because that is where the battle between those in favour of MORE mobility, freedom, convenience and those in favour of LESS is being fought out. The politics of mobility/transport have crystalised, for better or worse, around the issue of Heathrow's 3rd runway.
This is why MM is intervening here. But look out for campaigns on public transport in the near future.
If you support MM's general standpoint, please consider joining MM on Thursday 19 Feb for the demo.

transport to climate chaos
"Fares keep going up but the quality of public transport always seems to be going down. We are tired of excuses from government and business; we should have a world-class, affordable transport system."
I absolutely agree. But focussing on flying, when it is hard for people to find the money for travel within London, with ever rising bus and tube fares, planes just seem a very privileged concern to worry about. The same goes with worrying about cheap flight for holidays when other people are worried about loosing their jobs and homes.
What about trains? They're a lot more comfortable to travel in. Plus they won't transport humanity into extinction.
Nice basic idea, sadly shortsighted and not thought through at all.
