Green & Black Cross General Meeting Sunday 16th Jan at the London Action Resource Centre, 62 Fieldgate Street, Whitechapple. 12 - 4pm

Places: london

 Who are GBC?
We are a group that was set up after the Millbank student demonstrations, identifying the need for legal support at the birth of this new movement. Since then we have expanded to include kitchens and street medics and have other ideas in the works. Why Green and Black? The Black comes from the Anarchist Black Cross who support political prisoners and demonstrations through mutual aid*. The Green comes from our background in the climate movements which have given us the networks, skills and experience to make this possible, as well as an ecological perspective. What's the meeting for? To continue our discussions on how to make the group work. We think (and hope) 2011 is likely to be an energetic year politically with many people mobilising around The Cuts so we want to be prepared to build and strengthen an inspiring movement. We will talk about group process and break into smaller working groups such as legal, medics, kitchens, website, trauma support, child care..... bring your ideas! Why are we clashing with the Network X meeting? It just couldn't be avoided. Green and Black Cross will be part of Network X and we have two people going up to Manchester for the gathering who will be feeding back. Hope to see you there!
