CREATE AND ORGANISE MORE AUTONOMOUS SOCIAL SPACES IN HACKNEY

On Tuesday, 17th August, residents and friends of 195 Mare Street successfully resisted an eviction attempt by high court bailiffs and police. They will come back sooner or later but, whatever happens, and whenever it happens, more autonomous spaces where we can ORGANISE/CONSPIRE/LEARN/CREATE are needed in Hackney!

We're celebrating resisting eviction at Mare Street and other spaces in Hackney and elsewhere with a CAFE NIGHT by HackneySquattedCafe at 7.30pm on Thursday 26th August.

There will be time and space to SOCIALISE and DISCUSS what kinds of events and activities we want to happen and to start organising them.

To follow: a short documentary about Hackney and a movie about successful resistance in South America [8.30pm]

La Estrategia del Caracol (by Sergio Cabrera)

An authentic movie about solidarity, with a realistic magical story and great humor: it is considered the first and best in a new era of film-making in Colombia. A lot of people live in an ocupated house; after many years of quiet living, the owner of the house wants them out. They try whatever they can to avoid being put out, without sucess. But one of them thinks of a way of saving, at least, their dignity.
