INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
On the night of 17th January 2009, as the bombs rained down on Gaza, six people entered the EDO weapons factory in Brighton. This company supply components to the Israeli army, including release mechanisms and bomb racks for fighter aircraft. It is widely accepted that Israel committed war crimes against the people of Gaza and the companies who supplied the weapons are clearly complicit in these crimes.
The six decommisioners took hammers to the machinery and completely destroyed the offices, hurting no one in the process. Their aim was to disable the war machine and to take action against those who profit from the deaths of people who they have never even met.
They are awaiting trial and face 3-5 years in prison for conspiracy to commit criminal damage. One of them, an ex-soldier, has been remanded in custody for over a year now. The government has granted them minimal legal aid, despite the fact they need to fly witnesses in from Palestine as part of their defence. A victory for them would be a landmark for the anti-war movement. All other means of resistance have been tried and ignored.
