r Games will show a short film introducing the Marxist theorist Guy Debo
rd&rsquo\;s political board game &lsquo\;Game of War&lsquo\;. Audience m
embers will then be able to play the game for themselves.

The &lsquo\;Game of
War&rsquo\; is a Napoleonic-era military strategy game where armies must
maintain their communications structure to survive - and where victory
is achieved by smashing your opponent's supply network rather than by ta
king their pieces. It was devised by the Marxist theorist Guy Debord and
his partner\, the poet and novelist Alice Becker-Ho\, in 1987\, as a gu
ide to how people should live their lives in a consumer capitalist socie
ty. By playing\, revolutionary activists could learn how to fight and wi
n against their oppressors.
Class Wargames in London and the
Radical Software Group in New York have launched a project to promote t
he game\, are playing matches in public and developing their own version
s of the game. The accompanying book has been translated into English fo
r the first time.
Class Wargames say:
