Film Screenings...
here's the timetable for the film screenings at this Saturday's event...
12:30pm “Squatters”: A documentary about squatting in England after World War II.
1:30pm “Garbage Warrior”: Shot over three years in the USA, India and Mexico, Garbage Warrior is a feature-length documentary film telling the epic story of maverick architect Michael Reynolds and his fight to introduce radically sustainable housing. An inspirational tale of triumph over bureaucracy, Garbage Warrior is above all an intimate portrait of an extraordinary individual and his dream of changing the world.
3:30pm “Squatting” by Larissa Matteyssen: Movie follows anarchists and activists, who occupy different empty buildings and territories - from rooms, houses and industrial buildings to complete villages and ports. Dutch and Russian activists are telling about their experiences of squatting and reactions of authorities to self-organisation. Anti-squatters explain why they are in side of the state.
5:30pm “In Grave Danger of Falling Food”: in this introductory video to Permaculture Bill Mollison takes the viewer through the history and developments of the movement.
7pm “Property is Theft” Part of the BBC Lefties Series this episode explores the story of Villa Road, a squatted street during 1970's.
8:30pm “The Potentiality of Storming Heaven” A 28 minutes short movie-presentation of the insurrection of December 2008 in Greece through the words and actions of people that took part in it.
Good stuff
Excellent line up of workshops and films. One point shpould be made about ther Villa Rd lefties film id the Marxiosts in question seem to take credit for the complete s London squatting resistance - which isn't true. ther were plenty of localworking class squatters ( including anarchists ) squatting streets around the same area and more involved in the community. It is the BBC though and they do reinvent history. Garbage Warrior is fantastic and Table Bed Chair, and Trainsquatting too. :) have fun. and big up to yas.
