The Body of the one of the Murdered Teachers
Colombia Solidarity Campaign London branch meeting

A discussion of ‘Colombia's classroom wars' in Frontline Latin America - a chance to talk with Colombian students and educators
Between 1999 and 2005, more than half of reported murders of trade unionists in the world happened in Colombia, of whom more than half were working in the education sector. This is in addition to detentions, disappearances, displacements and threats, including against family members.
Protests against cuts in education have led to teachers being branded as ‘subversives', and schools have often been drawn into the war between the guerrilla, state and paramilitary groups.
Opposition to the Uribe government continues in schools and universities. FECODE, the national teachers' federation is well organized and active. How can we build solidarity in the UK?
London branch meetings of the Colombia Solidarity Campaign take place at 7pm every third Tuesday of the month.
