The camp is held just outside the nuclear base in Aldermaston at "Construction Gate" and we decorate the adjacent roundabout with peace flags and banners so you should find us easily. The nearest postcode for your sat navs is RG7 4PQ, and we're about 20 metres from there.
Aldermaston Women's Peace Camp would like to invite Indymedia readers to visit or stay at the camp from noon on Friday 10th August to noon on Monday 13th August and would be grateful if you could pass this message on.
The Women's Peace Camp meet every second weekend of the month, with women frequently staying over (or dropping in). In August, we hold our "long camp" weekend and legendary cocktail party (evening Saturday 11th; dressing up optional, but encouraged). This August, we'll discuss the reasons for our nuclear activism, hold workshops and educate one another about the action we can take to resist the nuclear status quo. This year our theme is "Activism: Why is it important for all women?" and we'd like you to come and stay or drop in to learn more.
If you want to stay over, you'll need to bring a tent, a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat (if you don't have these, please let us know as we may have spares) and, also, if you have one, a folding chair. Please bring food to share (vegan or vegetarian), or some cash to donate towards food during the weekend. For more details on the camp and cocktail party, you can take a look at the flyer here: http://www.aldermaston.net/node/509 If you want more information on camping at the site, please consult the FAQ here: http://www.aldermaston.net/camp/faq
During August camp, we will arange to have two portaloos onsite (one will be wheelchair accessible). If you have limited mobility, please be advised that the camp is held at the bottom of a small slope. There is limited parking on and around the peace camp. If you drive, it may be necessary to park a few minutes away and walk back. Many women arrive by train and we can offer lifts from Aldermaston (or nearby) railway stations. If you are interested in attending and want to let us know you're coming or arrange a lift, please email us here: info-AT-aldermaston.net or give the camp phone a call: 07969 739 812
We look forward to welcoming lots of women in August!
