SHAC in the SOCPA-zone

Protests at main LSR shareholder and government collaborators.

A different feel for demos today, as SHAC went into SOCPA-zone to demonstrate. Very reluctantly we 'got permission' for our 4 protests, and so we started at Barclays next to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, just next to parliament.

The police had set up pens for us to stand in at every location, but we managed to negotiate our way out of them. The police are obviously very uncomfortable with the SOCPA laws because there have been no successful convictions and it's in direct violation of the European Convention on Human Rights (Human Rights Act). We shamed Barclays, as ever, for being the largest shareholder in puppy killers HLS. We stayed at Barclays for just under an hour, and moved on to the Home Office, Horseferry Road.

This disgusting institution rubber stamps every experiment conducted in the UK, obviously including every experiment in HLS. They are responsible for the torture and deaths of millions of animals every year. Whoever set up the pen for this location was really taking the mick and there was no way we were standing in that. Fortunately the inspector in charge for the day was reasonable and agreed that the pen was ridiculous. We stood right outside through lunch time and showed them what we think of them approving animal torture.

Onto the Ministry of Defence in Horse Guards Avenue, another rejected pen and we stood right outside these offices shaming these suited, booted murderers. The MoD were caught out testing on monkeys in HLS as late as last year. Don't your cluster bombs, depleated uranium and nuclear warheads kill enough people?? Clearly not, as you're still testing your weapons on animals in HLS. SICK! SICK!! SICK!!!

After an hour and a half here, we went to Downing Street to show the heads of government that we've not forgotten about all their lies, deceit and misinformation about animal testing. Labour promised a Royal Commission into vivisection back in 1997, but 12 years later where is it?? They are desperate to keep the truth from the public - the truth that ANIMAL TESTING DOESN'T WORK!! And all to protect the interests of your rich pharmaceutical criminal friends...

It was a good day and gave us a chance to vent our anger at these disgusting institutions that conspire together to help the animal torturers in HLS.
