latest update - NEED PEOPLE NOW

just over an hour ago, an agent of the owner of the building posing as a fire inspector came to Rampart, with another individual. as there had been a minor burnt toast incident that morning, they were let in. they then kicked out the Rampart person who was in and illegally took possession of the building. one cop eventually turned out, predictably took the side of the owner.

30 people are there now, outside the building.
5 private security, 3 cops, possibly (an agent of) the owner.

WE NEED PEOPLE TO COME NOW.

Ramparts has been an amazing community and political activity centre for a few years. There was an eviction order which ran out after the owner failed to act for 6 months. nevertheless, today's events threaten to take Ramparts away once again, and for good. we need support NOW.

UPDATE standoff with police

the owner did not ascertain that the building was clear of occupants before starting to board up the building.

in the meanwhile, people CLIMBED BACK INTO Ramparts. the boarding up has stopped and there is currently a standoff between the people here in solidarity in front of the building, and the police / private security.

we need more numbers in solidarity to take Rampart back!!
