surely the police should have more important issues, such as corruption and brutality in their own ranks to investigate
you aren't allowed to squat if there is an intended occupier
To the (USian?) who said they would be "pissed" (I assume they don't mean drunk) if someone was in their house: you aren't allowed to squat a house that has a "protected intended occupier".
Squatters squat properties that no-one else is living in - it's better than leaving them empty to rot.
what happened?
Does anyone know what exactly happened? Were the bailiffs High Court bailiffs? Did they get an eviction date or was it totally unannounced?
more details
We lost in court last week. It was high court bailiffs and we were given no prior warning. The law does not oblige them to give notice, but in most cases its possible to find out when to expect the bailiffs.
There were 6 squats in the area, all owned by Crown estates who are planning a sell off of the whole block (and many others in London) which has been key worker housing. We had a lot of support from our neighbours (Cheers!)
The last house took about 3 and a half hours to evict (only to find it was already empty).
They were all immediately occupied by a live in security group.
