although the temperature was cold, the sun came out for the cycle ride and with several police motorbikes and around a dozen police cyclists, the small mass of around 150 cyclists set off along holborn, where they made their first stop outside 'greenenergy' in solidarity with biofuelswatch who were holding a protest against agrofuels.

onwards down to pall mall where they stopped for a rousing chorus of "e.on, f. off" outside the london offices of e.on (the company behind the proposed new coal-fired station at kingsnorth in kent).

after a loop back round to trafalgar square, then down whitehall and parliament square, the cyclists stopped again outside the department of transport, before making their way through victoria and up park lane to the american embassy at grosvenor square.

there, hare krishna' volunteers were handing out plates of delicious curry, and several thousand campaigners set off on their march to westminster accompanied by three samba bands, some other musicians and all sorts of costumed wildlife!
