The G-20 meeting to be held in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania is taking place in just under a month (Sept. 24-25, 2009) and it would be nice to receive some advice and/or words of solidarity from London G20 protesters about how to achieve success with this round of protests.  Online support via Twitter updates & Blogs would be helpful too!  You folks have experience and we need to here from you in the states!

With the G-20 meeting fast approaching, things are shockingly quiet regarding the protest in many progressive/radical media outlets.  Some, of course, are reporting related news (or reposting mainstream stories) and the turnout is still expected to be quite large, but I feel more could be done locally and internationally to get the word out well in advance (so as to make this a truly historic protest).  It shouldn't be difficult to tie the G20 Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors to the current worldwide economic crisis (as they right ought be associated) and many people across the political spectrum should be encouraged to attend the protest.

Share what you know about the G-20 and organize locally for a non-violent general strike.  Call the talk shows, post to forums, and try to become acquainted with TWITTER to help spread the word!

PITTSBURGH G20

The "progressive" media is silent on the protest....because Pittsburgh is irrelevant. P-A-L-E-Z-E...unless {ittsburgh has won the super bowl, the Penguins have just won the Stanley Cup, or Pitt just lost to WVU, ain't no body gonna get their lazy asses out of Oakland to protest anything (unless there is a way to get free beer).

Pittsburgh is going total lock down. There are going to be more police, secret service and Homeland Security types in teh Golden Triangle than you can shake a pierogie at. THe downtown area is so small that anyone within 2 blocks of the President's hotel is actually in the middle of a river. Plan on having your unwashed skank butts finally bathed in a blast fromt eh water cannons if you try to pull that BS in Da Burgh.

Come on...there is no way in, and once you are here, theere is no way out. THe protests will likely be confined to Oakland and CMU...which are no where near the G20 location.

Hears an idea...protest by NOT SHOWING UP !!! THe fact that you didn't find Pittsburgh relevant enough to show up and protest will be met with years or analysis and millions in outreach programs to make sure that the local politicians are more in tune with your needs. THey will be begging for another chance to get you back to break some of their windows. IT'S BRILLIANT !! Thomas Merton would truly be proud. A radical and progressive method of protest. The G20 bastards are so irrelevant we can't even listen to them anymore.

GO ahead...call it your own idea. In fact, go to Newark... They won't be expecting it, and any damage you do would actually result in urban improvement. SO you would truly be helping out.

london G20

also worth pointing out that the G20 finance ministers are meeting again in London September 4th... only thing organised so far seems to be coming from NGOs with put people first march. see
