People used bins and tree cuttings to block streets, until large numbers of riot police forced them to disperse.

Undercover police snatch squads were in operation and made numerous arrests.

Is Resistance Legal?

I used to hold a minor judicial position. In one instance two undercover officers brought in a suspect charged with assault on an officer. The undercover officers had been arresting the suspect's friend and the suspect intervened.
In testimony it came out that the police had not shown identification or even said they were police. The suspect had seen two men wrestling with his friend and went to assist. I found no probabble cause to charge the suspect because he did not know the two men were officers. Therefore, he was released and no charges were filed.
My question is: Do these undercover Italian officers idenitify themselves, or do they simply grab people? Without identificaton, could not those they grab physically resist?
