LONDON, UK - 21.05.09: Home Secretary Jacqui Smith today announced that all Gurkha veterans who retired before 1997 with four years service would be allowed to settle in the UK. A high-profile campaign lead by Joanna Lumley has lead to an embarrasing u-turn for the government culminating in today's historic ruling.
