December 09, 2010 22:40 - Protesters getting increasingly cold and annoyed. Heavy  police cordons still on both sides. Protesters are now being let out one by one on the south side and being filmed, but no details are taken. legal advice: do not let them take your picture, cover your face they cannot move your hands

December 09, 2010 21:25 - The police have now stopped protesters who were kettled in Parliament Square on Westminster Bridge.

December 09, 2010 21:10 - Protesters are now being let out of Parliament Square via Westminster Bridge. Protesters are being escorted by police over the bridge, it is unclear wether they are being led somewhere.

December 09, 2010 20:40 - According to Scotland Yard , there was 15 arrests including 8 for violent disorder and 2 for assault on police. Hundreds of protesters are still in Parliament Square and a small crowd is still in Oxford Street. Some protesters have also reached Marble Arch.

December 09, 2010 20:25 - Police announce they will open Westminster Bridge and are moving on the square pushing protesters away from Westminster Abbey. Pictures of the royal car were released on BBC News, a window got smashed and paint thrown at the car while protesters were kicking it near Oxford Street.

December 09, 2010 20:10 - Protesters have smashed the windows of the Supreme Court in Parliament Square, the TSG has moved in to protect the building.

December 09, 2010 19:50 - A car containing Prince Charles and Camilla got attacked by protesters earlier.
Protesters are being let out of Parliament Square on the condition that they give their photo to the FIT. Legal notice: you do not have to give your picture unless you are under arrest.

December 09, 2010 19:40 - Police are charging protesters in Parliament Square, protesters are using metal fences to defend themselves.
Protesters in Oxford Street have entered several shops including Boots and Topshop which was forced to close. Protesters also smashed the windows of Topshop ran by tax dodger Phillip Green.
Three police vans and about 30 police officers are now in Oxford Street.

December 09, 2010 19:15 - Protesters have climbed into the treasury. Police charged to clear the door and protect the windows.
A new protest is also forming on oxford street for all those who were forcibly removed from the kettle and those who wish to join the demonstration. More than 1000 protesters marching down chanting "General Strike".

A large crowd of protesters is also moving from Trafalgar Square down Whitehall.

Clashes are occuring all around, especially near Whitehall and in front of the Treasury.

Some young protesters have asked the police to let them out of the Parliament Square kettle but have been refused.

December 09, 2010 18:05 - Riot Police are now pulling the fence segments away from protesters who used them to protect themselves and push back police lines.

December 09, 2010 18:00 - Around 150 protesters are staging a sit-in protest in the Impressionist Rooms of the National Gallery.

December 09, 2010 17:55 - Police are charging people with horses again pushing them near the Treasury building. They are using shields to hit protesters. Fireworks are being lit.

Around 200 protesters are stopped by the police at the Trafalgar end of Whitehall, nonetheless spirits are high.

December 09, 2010 17:43 - ConDem coalition wins the vote on raising the fees to 9000 pounds by a majority of 21. 323 vote yes 302 vote no. Protesters still on the streets. Two liberal democrat mps and one conservative MP have resigned.

The NUS rally at Victoria Embankment has now finished with a closing speech from Aaron Porter and a candlelit Vigil.

December 09, 2010 17:20 - Protesters are still kettling the police between Whitehall and Parliament square. They have surrounded a van and some are charging it with a large metal pole.

December 09, 2010 17:10 - Jenny Willot, liberal democrat MP's has resigned as a parliamentary aide to Chris Huhne over the fees plans according to the BBC and Channel Four.

December 09, 2010 16:50 - Huge fire has erupted in parliament square. Students say it might be a wooden rubbish container.

December 09, 2010 16:30 - Around 200 protesters approaching Parliament from Victoria Street trying to join up the rest of the demonstrators are being prevented from doing so by the police. They came from Oxford Street after breaking away from the main march around lunchtime. In Oxford Street they went into several shops who are dodging tax or advising the government on cuts including Santander, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and Boots.
  Mike Crockart, a junior aid to the scottish secretary has quit over his opposition the fees plans. Michael Moore, the deputy leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats has also resigned. The vote is due to take place in Parliament at 17:15pm.

December 09, 2010 16:15 - According to the BBC, three protesters have been arrested including two for assault. BBC also reports that two policemen have also been taking to hospital.

December 09, 2010 16:12 - The crowd of protesters is thinning. Police are pushing the crowd which surged towards Victoria Street back onto the square.
Police are still clashing with the crowd.
Protesters are quite scared of the horses but are quite happy and jubilant at the same time.

December 09, 2010 16:05 - Protesters are barricaded in Parliament square, surrounded by police vans, some have paint all over them. Last horse charge was 10 minutes ago. On victoria street, police horses are "kettled" by protesters. A female protester was crushed by a horse and had her collar bone broken, reports of injured police too.

December 09, 2010 16:00 - Riot police are pulling individuals out of the crowd and letting them go behind the police lines and the horses, earlier they pulled a disabled protester from his wheelchair. Some protesters are injured.

December 09, 2010 15:39 - Police are charging the crowd with horses outside Westminster Abbey.
But the crowd manages to push back the horses. Protesters are passing heavy fencing to the front to push against the riot police lines.
Reports of unconfirmed arrests.

December 09, 2010 15:20 - Protesters have moved in a big crowd towards Victoria street, a large group has broken through police lines after scuffles. Fireworks and sticks being thrown at the police. A policeman got thrown off his horse.
Protesters are also throwing paint bombs at police vans, and police.

December 09, 2010 14:50 - Protesters have lit fires all around parliament. People are dancing around a soundsytem in the square. Some protesters have linked arms to prevent horses coming in.

December 09, 2010 14:35 - Parliament square is almost kettled, small groups can leave. Protesters have taken down the fencing surrounding the square. There are a lot of police horses around the square, at least 30.
Some protesters are using harris fencing to push the police line at Sy Margaret Street. Police are hitting protesters with batons. It seems the rest of the protest is calm.

December 09, 2010 14:20 - After scuffles with the police people broke through and marched onto Parliament Square.
The square is now packed with around 20 000 protesters and more are streaming in. Earlier on police went through the crowd with horses and protesters had to climb fences to avoid being crushed.

December 09, 2010 14:05 - Protesters have lit small fires, flares and fireworks are going off all around Parliament.
Protesters are breaking through police lines and getting into Parliament square.
Police have also being pelted with eggs. Riot Police are lined up in front of Parliament.

December 09, 2010 12:40 - A group of 400 protesters including LSE and King's students are marching on the Strand, some students are on Waterloo Bridge, and are being stopped by Police. Police have also formed a cordon on the bottom of Whitehall.

Some protesters are also in Trafalgar Square chanting.

December 09, 2010 11:45 - Hundreds of protesters have already assembled outside ULU, Malet Street. Many more are on their way including 300 students from Goldsmiths, students from UEL are on the DLR and school students in East London have walked out to join the protest.

December 09, 2010 10:00 - Today Parliament will vote on Tuition Fees tens of thousands of students, higher education staff and supporters are due to demonstrate in London and Edinburgh in the latest of a month long series of protests [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] actions and over 30 occupations [1,2,3] including schools in london. With the student protests coinciding with the growth  of a wider anti-austerity cuts movement, the RMT union has called on trade union members to take to the streets to support the students. The DayX3 march, lobby and rally comes the day after demonstrations were held across the country. Whatever happens today, it's clear more people are becoming politicised, radicalised and prepared to fight back.
