NewInquiry: David Graeber on Occupy Direct Action / Black Bloc

David Graeber responds to “The Cancer in Occupy,” article written by Chris Hedges:

I am writing this on the premise that you are a well-meaning person who wishes Occupy Wall Street to succeed. I am also writing as someone who was deeply involved in the early stages of planning Occupy in New York.

I am also an anarchist who has participated in many Black Blocs. While I have never perso…

Indybay: A letter from some friends in Oakland

A report from the Jan. 28th events in Oakland

Let us start by apologizing; that our words may be incoherent, our thoughts scattered and our tone overly emotional. Forgive us, because the ringing in our ear continues to interrupt our thinking, because our eyes are bleary and we're weighed upon by the anxiety and trauma of our injuries and the imprisonment of the ones we love. As most of you a…

The Activists: Transform Yourself to an Active Media Producer

You must transform yourself from a passive consumer of the wealthy’s mass media message to a creator of authentic content. You must use all of your resources to create content that undermines that very existence of the capitalist class. Ask a homeless man how he feels about capitalism, instead of a spoiled CEO. Interview a struggling mother instead of interviewing capitalism’s media faces.…

Occupy Justice: Clowns cause chaos in court

Occupy_cabaret_final

Invisible Circus brought Old Street Magistrates back to life on Friday when a rag-tag bunch of entertainers were put on trial in front of a packed courtroom.

The sinister looking rogues were charged with such crimes as making children laugh, juggling, frivolity and listening to repetitive beats before being sent to the cells much to the pleasure of the gallery.

SOTT: Mass demonstrations unreported by Japanese media

You've heard about the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York, Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Berlin, Tel Aviv and elsewhere around the world. But did you know that huge demonstrations have been taking place in Tokyo as well? We certainly didn't until a SOTT forum member sent us the details. The general lack of awareness of the protests in Japan is probably due to the fact that there has been…
