The welfare state is being dismantled. Services and jobs are facing massive cuts across the public sector, and across the country there are protests against the government austerity measures.

In Haringey £41 million is being cut from council budgets in the coming year alone – with more to come.

two people were arrested after being pushed down stairs by police at wood green civic centre where councillors were met with angry protests at their meeting to pass huge budget cuts. protestors, who were eventually evacuated from the building after occupying the council chambers for nearly two hours, have now gone to hornsey police station where the arrested pair were taken.

Haringey Alliance for Public Services, the National Union of Teachers and Unison came together on January 17th for an extremely lively march and lobby of Haringey counciil.

an angry crowd of 50 to 100 people braved the cold tonight to picket a haringey council meeting at wood green civic centre in protest at proposed cuts on public services in the area.

around 20 people from various groups protested outside a vodafone shop in wood green this lunchtime. shoppers and passers-by generally gave them a good reception and many agreed with the connection to fighting tory cuts that was made by the protestors.

the 'universities and college union' (UCU) organised a protest outside the college of north east london in tottenham at lunchtime today as part of the european TUC's day of action against cuts.  it was also supported by 'haringey alliance for public services'.  the demo is one of several running up to a big protest march and rally on the eve of the council budget on monday 18th october in wood gre…
