Things were looking good at the Trafalgar Square campsite today. There had just been a Tar Sands protest outside the Canadian Embassy where a road was blockaded. Tea and biscuits were served. Just a a small police presence which didn't follow the protesters back into the square. Then protesters climbed onto Nelson's plinth to display banners and chant. the climate camp swoop successfully took over trafalgar square from around 4.30 this evening. here are a few pics from the early stages of the camp. the campers initially intend to remain there for 48 hours. at present, police have no immediate plans to remove them.

Plans are afoot to pull off a daring feat of technology and collaboration and put out a stream of video during the London Climate Camp (27th of August to 2 September 2009).

Seven young women dressed as Suffragettes with red sashes that read: CLIMATE CODE RED and NO NEW COAL interrupted Energy Question Time at the Labour Party Conference on Saturday 20 September.
They challenged Malcolm Wicks MP, Energy Minister, to defend his decision to build a new coal-fired power station at Kingsnorth. They were asked to leve but confronted him again as he left the conference room.
