The atmosphere was alternately tense and festive in Brixton tonight. After last night's riots in Tottenham, sparked by the police shooting of Mark Duggan on Thursday, riots spread all over London this evening.

Barclays held it's 2011 AGM at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Shortly before beginning at 11am World Development Movement protesters picketed the entrance focusing on the bank's food speculation role, pushing up the price of staple food globally. London, UK, 27/04/2011.

UK Uncut forced the closure of Barclays Bank in Piccadilly Circus just after 11am. Yesterday it was revealed that the bank paid just 1% corporation tax in 2009 - £113m after record profits of £11.6bn. London, UK, 19/02/2011.

With Barclays Bank paying just 1% corporation tax in 2009 – a paltry sum of £113m after the company trousered record profits of £11.6bn – protesters have targeted their high street branches around the UK to highlight their dodgy tax avoidance shenanigans.
So far, 41 branches have been reported as closed around the UK, with actions still taking place.

Around 600 cyclists came out on the monthly Critical Mass bicycle ride last Friday night. the ride takes place on the last friday of every month throughout the year, and riders meet from 6pm on the south bank under waterloo bridge by the national film theatre. the route is decided by riders on the night, and since last year's high court case, police no longer ride with the bikes.
