November 30, 2011 saw public sector workers strike across the country in protest of so-called 'pension reforms' by the Con-Dem government to public pensions. The following features audio recordings of picketers discussing their reasons for participating in the national day of action as well as some rambles and observations of the days actions from my perspective.

Demotix: At least 4 arrests outisde Parliament under SOCPA

 

City police explained to me that protesters were being arrested under Section 152 of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act of 2005. This was incorrect as this section is for the 'Power to seize etc. vehicles driven without licence or insurance'.

Demotix: Police evict Clifton Mansions

Police closed off Coldharbour Lane at 9am to evict a community squat in the heart of Brixton. Over 50 people protested outside and members of the community joined in. Specialist police units worked with fire crews to remove them. London, UK, 12//07/2011.

Demotix: Police kettle June 30th protesters on Whitehall

Police kettled determined protesters, mainly young students, for the best part of an hour after the main June 30th strike marched through London. Press photographers were also getting hassled by police which were not following ACPO guidelines at all. London, UK, 30/06/2011.

Statement from Queer Resistance re: Events on 29th

On 29th April Queer Resistance the LGBTQI anti-cuts collective planned a Royal Zombie Wedding Celebration in Soho incorporating a picnic breakfast, performances, a zombie blessing and marriage ceremony by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence followed by a zombie flash mob through Soho. 

 

Demotix: Demonstration against political policing

Demotix: Justice for Smiley Culture protest

A few hundred protested outside New Scotland Yard after marching from Wandsworth over the death of Smiley Culture, who reportedly died from a single stab wound to the heart. Police were searching his home in Warlington, Surrey at the time. London, UK, 16/04/2011. 

Demotix: Protesters gain entry to BP's AGM in London

Protesters breached the gates of excel during BP's AGM. A teary eyed Diane Wilson from Texas covered her face and hands with oil and was arrested for breach of the peace whilst Axel Kohler-Schnura demandined entry as a shareholder.
