G20: Agent Provocateurs = Entrapment

-thumb

Did the Met Police use Agent Provocateurs/ Police Agitators during the G20 Meltdown festival? While this may seem far-fetched to the casual observer, it is a commonly-used technique for "protest management" by riot police across the world. It provides the justification for heavy-handed retaliation by the police and media over-reaction. More importantly, those now charged with breaking and entering…

Tamil Blockade at Parliament

_3-medium-thumb

As Parliament was sitting again after having been absent from Westminster for Easter holidays, Tamil people and their supporters in London stepped up their protests on Monday 20th against the military onslaught in the Tamil areas of northern Sri Lanka. Thousands of people blocked Parliament Square for the whole day, whilst large numbers of police and riot TSG forces in standby-by kept a close eye.

Huge Stop the genocide of Tamils demo

There is a feature currently running at IMC-UK that is covering the ongoing autonomous action that has settled at parliament square after blockading Westminster bridge for almost a day and night/.

The series of events that followed has been eclipsed steadily by the determination of the ongoing hunger strike.

It is not intended to take focus away from the two lives dangling so dangerously in hung…

Tamil protest amid more police violence.

Yesterday and into this morning Tamil Tiger protesters continued their demonstration outside the houses of parliament in a stand against the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The protest, which at its peak numbered 3000 people, was very peaceful and included in its numbers a large amount of picnicking families, with crisps and water bulk bought by the protesters to feed the crowd.

One-man G20 protest on 28th March 2009

On Saturday I participated in a one-man act of civil disobedience that is not yet reported in any paper to my knowledge. To co-incide with the Put People First march through London I climbed over the railings and into the grounds of the Houses of Parliament/Palace of Westminster.

The Put People First march is now making its way into Hyde Park.  The first half of the march showed up about an hour ago, the second half was delayed due to the police joining the march and keeping a slow-moving cordon of cops in front of the anarchist Militant Workers Bloc, presumably to deny them mobility in case they decided to overthrow capitalism today.

Put people first march begins

The Put People First march has begun.  It's very difficult to tell how big the entire demonstration is right now, because the entire embankment for at least a mile is filled with people - the demonstration stretches out of sight in either direction.
